There is an error when you try to install the add-on in Firefox v3.6. I'm looking into the issue (probably a bad file reference somewhere in the code) and will push out an update as soon as possible.  I'm guessing this will also fix the problems people are experiencing with BC Gmail Sigs v1.12.00 messing up tool and side bars of other applications in FF 3.5.

I just registered to report this problem and saw your post ;)

Good luck!

I've found the issue and will put out a new release as soon as I fix the conflict with toolbars in other add-ons. Almost there.

Update: v1.12.01 was just released to fix this issue.

Confirmed! It installed correctly!

It installs - but I see no signature options and no signatures Frown

What info can I supply to help with debugging?

type about:config into your address bar, then press enter. Search in there for extension.bcGmailSigs.debugMode and set it to 'alert'. This will cause JavaScript errors to show up which you can copy and paste here. Please start a new thread in the Bugs section if you would and make sure to look through the posts in the news to see if your issue is already covered.

It was the right side chat issue. Disabling that and Signatures sprang back into life. Excellent work.

Good news is it now installs for me, bad news is I can't create a new signature or edit my existing.

First error I get is this

com.BlankCanvas.GmailSigInstance:

updateSignaturePreview()

ReferenceError: $ is not defined

then if I try to click on "save signature" I get

com.BlankCanvas.GmailSigInstance:

saveSignature()

ReferenceError: $ is not defined

I am using FF 3.6 on Vista 64.

Hi,

I'm running FF 3.6 on Mac OSX 10.5.8 and am running into the following problem when I go to install:

Firefox could not install the file at

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/downloads/file/?confirmed

because: Not a valid install package
-207

Anyone else running into this?

The same thing has happened on 2 machines with the same config.

I updated the install link. Give it another try.

Feb. 13, 2010 - 1:07pm - 205 days ago

It installed fine now... but suddenly Gmail keeps crashing whenever I try to edit existing signatures (or use "options").

FireFox 3.6
Windows 7, 64x

(not sure why me previous post with this same error report was deleted...)

Nope, any edits I try to make in existing sigs, even just clicking on any of the "Blank Canvas" related buttons, freezes FF and eventually crashes it.

I also noticed a mystery number code that suddenly appeared below my existing signature: e7bc0bfc6
It cannot be deleted or edited out, as it's not part of the html, yet is sends itself with the message.

  • I disabled all Gmail lab features I was using - didn't help
  • I disabled almost all my other FF Add-ons - didn't help

Running out of ideas. Shame. BC is a great tool, if it works.

Feb. 14, 2010 - 9:12am - 204 days ago

I've tried the new links and even upgraded firefox to 3.6 but BC still doesn't work. It' works fine on my 32 bit ubuntu build but doesn't work on my 64 bit build. The only difference I can see including add ons, greasemonkey scripts and styles is 32 vs 64 bit. It installs fine but no buttons or signature appear.

Feb. 15, 2010 - 6:34pm - 202 days ago

Got it working.  Apparently noscript was blocking it. I noticed that the noscript was blocking some elements on the compose page so I allowed the page  to run scripts and vola, it worked. Such a simple thing I overlooked. Wow! Now everything is working fine. The only question I have now is why did this only happen on one of my computers?

Feb. 15, 2010 - 8:19pm - 202 days ago

Very glad to hear you found the solution. Can you tell me what exception you added in order to get it to work? I've created a post in the bugs section about it. You can see it here.

Feb. 16, 2010 - 9:07pm - 201 days ago

ok, i upgraded to FF 3.6 and now when I go to :

the home page of this add-on, which is:  https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addons/policy/0/7757/79795?confirmed

it tells me: This add-on is for older versions of Firefox and will not let me install it ( I previously uninstalled it after upgrading to FF 3.6)

HELP!

Feb. 16, 2010 - 9:11pm - 201 days ago

OH, BUT now i see this: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addons/policy/0/7757/80101?confirmed

and it installed and WORKS! Horray!

Thanks so much. Sorry I posted an unnecessary bug report. Took a little finding to find this fix. I am so grateful to have this add-on back and will send a donation now.
