[fixed] Tool and Sidebar conflicts

Many people (myself included) are experiencing trouble with the tool and side bars of other add-ons no longer working when using BC Gmail Sigs v1.12.00 and v1.12.01. I had implemented jQuery as a means of speeding up development on v1.12.x which was primarily designed to fix Google's broken Gmail Greasemonkey API. While jQuery has helped speed up my coding, it turns out that it is extremely aggressive in its registering of elements within the global namespace to the point that it even causes conflicts when wrapped in an isolating namespace function (as is all of the code for BC Gmail Sigs).

I am looking into either better isolating jQuery, or rewriting my code without the use of jQuery, which would take some time, but would be worth it given the current conflicts.

Sorry for the delay, but know that I am working on it. As always, please bear with me.

A new version will be released as soon as possible.

Hi,

I use auto fill forms as a firefox add on but it doesnt seem to be working after installing blank canvas gmail signature. Just wanted to check whether i'm missing something or whether it could be an error due to BC gmail signatures. It is there as an add on but just not appearing in my tool bar.

Thanks ... Vishal

Did you read what I posted above? The answer to your question is right there.

Update: I'm looking into forcing jQuery to run in a sandbox to avoid conflicts. Looks like this may have potential...

1.12 is looking good, other than the conflicts you mentioned. For me, Web Developer Toobar is blank. Fixing one thing opens up a completely new can o' worms... Has Gmail apologized for breaking the API yet? Hang in there Jerome! Hope you get some relief from the insane snowfall soon.

I've pretty much fixed sandboxing jQuery to fix the toolbar conflicts. Just doing some extra testing before releasing the fix.

Update: v1.12.02 released Laughing

I couple of issues still exist

When I go to edit my signature, there is no code for my existing signatures or html display

All in One Sidebar - stops the minimised side bar from showing

I have tested this on PC and MAC and the same issue exists

On the bright site the tool bars have all appeared and although I have not tested them fully they appear to be working fine

thanks for the quick response in fixing the tool bar issue

Good to get the sigs back, but as JoeMeeks says, Web Developer toolbar is now blank.

Thanks for your work on this.

Hi Jerome,

I see you have updated the release, thank you, all works well with this plug in.

I still see 1 thing, the signature preview does not appear in a frame with a white background but displays on the coloured background with no border

Thanks again for all your hard work
